SafeWork launches new psychosocial advisory service for NSW workplaces
SafeWork has launched a dedicated Psychosocial Advisory Service to help NSW workers and employers address issues including bullying, harassment, work-related stress and mental harm. The service follows a sharp rise in psychosocial requests for assistance and recent compliance activity across more than 200 workplaces. SafeWork received 3,145 psychosocial-related requests for service between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026, representing 20.5% of all requests received. Company fined $375,000 after worker seriously injured using grain mill
Woodward Foods Australia Pty Ltd has been convicted and fined $375,000 after a worker suffered serious injuries while using a grain mill to prepare cattle feed. The Industrial Court of NSW also imposed an adverse publicity order. Woodward Foods Australia pleaded guilty to an offence under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 for failing to ensure, so far as was reasonably practicable, the health and safety of workers. Horticulture blitz issues 50 safety notices across NSW
SafeWork inspectors issued 50 compliance notices during targeted operations involving horticulture businesses in the Coffs Harbour and Riverina regions. Moving plant, electrical safety and hazardous chemicals were among the issues identified, with further regulatory action under assessment. Two companies and a director have been convicted and fined a combined $420,000 after a worker suffered serious injuries when an industrial gate overran its vertical supports while closing. The case also resulted in separate due diligence convictions against the director. The incident occurred on 24 March 2022, when a worker was struck by an industrial gate as it was being closed. A company has been convicted and fined $800,000 after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a reversing reach stacker used to handle shipping containers.
